Our Philosophy

Centuries of Knowledge,
Carried Quietly

The Beginning

Some of the best ideas are never planned.

It started over chai in Abu Dhabi. Four friends, two couples, sitting together the way old friends do, talking about nothing and everything. Someone picked up a crochet hook. A loop became a stitch. A stitch became a shape. And somewhere between laughter and that warm afternoon, something shifted.

But look closer at that moment. The hands holding that hook were a woman's hands.

Dreamy memory of the four friends and founders

A snapshot from the night the journey began

Centuries of handcraft traditions passed down by women

The Journey

What Travel Taught Us

Two of us had been traveling. Not tourist travel, real travel. The kind where you sit in a stranger's home and notice how they make things. And in every country, in every culture, across every continent, one truth repeated itself without exception:

“The keeper of craft was almost always a woman.”

The Bedouin woman weaving Al Sadu in the desert. The Tamil grandmother passing down her patterns without ever writing them down. The Scandinavian mother knitting the same stitch her great-grandmother taught. The Bengali weaver producing Jamdani so fine it was once called “woven air.”

The Purpose

“Who is protecting what these women built?”

We came back from those travels with more than photographs. We came back with a question that would not leave us alone. Not just the craft. The knowledge. The identity. The dignity. The economic independence that comes when a woman's skill is recognized as what it truly is — not a hobby, but a profession. An art form.

We saw traditions that took centuries to build dying quietly because nobody was telling their story anymore. Nobody was giving them a home in the modern world.

We decided to build that home.

Our Philosophy

What Our Name Carries

FIKA

The Swedish philosophy of pausing. Of sitting down, being present, finding meaning in a moment. Not rushing. Not consuming. Just being.

VIE

French for life. Because that is what this is really about. How you choose to live it. What you choose to surround yourself with. What you choose to pass on.

Our Commitment

Where We Stand

Founded in the UAE, built from friendships, fueled by miles of travel, FIKAVIE is a sustainable luxury handcraft brand. But beneath every product is a deeper commitment. To source ethically. To pay fairly. To put the woman behind the craft at the center of the story, not the background of it.

The wives in our founding circle understood this before any of us could articulate it. They were the ones who saw not just a beautiful product, but a responsibility. That women who create with their hands deserve to be seen, compensated, and celebrated at the level their craft demands. That became the backbone of FIKAVIE.

This Is Not Just a Brand.

This is a pause. This is a life well made. This is what happens when women's hands are finally given the platform they always deserved.

Every Moses basket. Every woven piece. Every carefully sourced material. All of it exists because four friends refused to let the world's most beautiful crafts be forgotten.

FIKAVIE. Where every stitch carries a life.
